I fell in love with the art and creative world at a young age and knew that I wanted to attend art school focused on advertising and design. I attended the prestigious School of Visual Arts in NYC, where I focused on design communication with top professionals in the field. After I graduated from SVA, I began working for a preeminent branding and design firm, where I created packaging and consumer experiences for Delta Airlines, Diageo, Gatorade, Pepsi and Procter and Gamble among many others. After many years, I went on to establish my own boutique design studio leading a small team of creatives designing packaging for clients such as Dewars, Clairol, Cazadores Tequila and Bath and Body Works to name a few.
In 2013, I was approached to help launch a new, young, and energetic oral care brand called Hello Products. I jumped at the opportunity to become the Creative Director at Hello and to be part of the team to build this new energetic brand from the ground up. As the sole designer and creative in the company, I was responsible for developing the overall look and feel of the brand, from packaging, in-store displays, web site, and any other visual touch points.
Although I have been immersed in this creative and artistic world throughout my career, I still missed painting and felt the need to get back to painting and my hands-on artistic roots. I wanted to re-imagine my design background and professional experience with more traditional executions. Utilizing newsprint and magazine collage, spray paint and acrylic paint, I create my own unique design language using bold colors, clean lines, fluid shapes, patterns and subject matters that are either culturally relevant or from personal experiences and observations that exude positivity, energy, and vibrancy. I continue to experiment and explore different ideas, compositions, techniques and materials all coming together in harmony. I’m looking forward to where it takes me and eager to share it.
I believe art is meant for you to step in, experience something new, to admire the details, and to see the emotions it elicits inside you. I know I enjoy these experiences and feelings when I encounter art that I admire and amazes me. I hope to trigger these experiences and feelings within you through my art and design. And I hope to leave you, the viewer, with a little grin saying, damn, that was pretty cool.
